20 written&spoken text- the conjuring review

the conjuring review

purpose: to inform people about the movie and tell them if it is good or bad

audience: 15+, people that are debating on whether to see the film or not and wanting to know another persons opinion or just people that follow the page and want to see what they have to say

the factors that make it a written text is that it is written quite formally and uses some words that you wouldnt normally see in a conversation face to face

Features that make it a spoken text is that it is quite relaxed and informal, although it is still closer resembling a written text because of the descriptive techniques that it uses

19 written&spoken text thorpe park

Thorpe park

purpose: to advertise and encourage people to buy tickets and visit the park

audience: families with children and teenagers

features that make it a written text is that it is a lot more descriptive and well thought through, whereas if you were describing the ride in real life you wouldn't be able to make it as descriptive as it is.

Features that make it a spoken text is that it is doesn't use complicated words or any formalities that would normally be used in a written text, it is quite informal and almost like someone excited is verbally describing something to someone (with a hint of persuasive techniques to get them to visit it)

18 witten language- barry m nail art

Barry M nail art

purpose: to advertise and explain the product so that they would want to buy it

audience: teenage-30 year old girls

This barry M page uses written language to persuade anyone reading it into buying it, it uses pictures to show the product and make it look like something they would want to buy, they use a lot of descriptive words to make the product sound interesting and different, this is one if the things in which i thin it is clear it is written language because in person we wouldnt casually use so many descriptive words and although it is quite formal it still had some parts look as if they were spoken but then the fact it has a step by step guide just shoes that it is written

17 written text- jamie oliver

Jamie Oliver cookbook

purpose: to inform people about the book and to persuade people to buy/order it

audience: middle aged people or anyone that is interested in using the recipes to cook

i think that the language they use to adverise the book is clever, they start off with a bit of background information about jamie i thin they could do this to familiarize the person interested in buying it so that they would know whos book they are about to buy and maybe give some more reasons as to why they are buying it. it also says abit about the book itself, i think it is written language because it uses some words and phrases that you wouldnt normally say to someone face to face, the language is much more formal and uses better grammar than what you would probably say to someones face.

16 written text-insidious 2

insidious2

Buy Vue Cinema tickets for Insidious: Chapter 2 online and watch the film trailer above

purpose: to persuade people to come and watch the film

audience: the audience for this film would be 15 because it is rated as a 15 as it has some violent scenes and horrific images

the things that make this a written text is the language they use, they say things that you would normally not say in person because it would sound silly, things like 'stick to your seat' its phrases and sentences like these that would make It hard to change into a written text, it is quite a formal text and it persuades you that you want to go and see it.

15:playstation

playstation

purpose: to show and advertise the product so that people will buy and use it

audience:  boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 30

format/style: the language used in this advert is clever, the o and a's are shapes, the shapes that are on the remote of a playstation i think they do this because it makes it clear what brand they are trying to advertise and its a wellknown symbols used by the players of playstation, the slogan 'live in your world play in ours' is clever because you play on games that are usually based on other world its a play on words because it doesnt mean the literal play in another world but it wants you to think that when you play the game it feels like you are in another world which desired by young people.

adidas advertisement

purpose: to advertise the product and persuade people to buy it

audience: 15-40 year old, sports players

format/style: the advert is very dark and uses alot of trees and shadows in the background this makes it look serious and the black makes a dirty feel to is, they could be using this to try and present the dirt that you will get when wearing the adidas sports wear to play sports, the slogan 'impossible is nothing' is very inspirational to the reader and is used to try and make the person reading the advertisement think that if they bought and wore the product that they would be able to achieve anything and that like it says anything is possible.

yellow pages advert

purpose: to show people the product and what it does and encourage them to use it

audience: middle aged people to the elderly

format/style: the format of this advert is very basic but it gets the point across, the logo is bright and eye catching and it matches the name 'yellow pages' because the whole book and pages are yellow. the slogan 'let your fingers do the walking' is shadowed by the logo that it is fingers walking along the pages, this is a metaphor for the fact that you dont need to walk anywhere to find and contact the person you want to but that instead you can use your fingers to find the page of the person you want and can ring without having to actually walk anywhere.

12:chocolate orange

chocolate orange advert

purpose: to advertise and persuade people to buy their chocolate

audience: everyone that eats chocolate

format/style: the style of the advert is quite busy, there is a lot going on, the chocolate orange logo stands out because of its bright colours as oposed to the dimmer background, the slogan 'smash it to pieces, love it to bits' is a clever use of words because to open a chocolate orange you have to break it appart by smashing it and then eat it, the use of bad smashing it and then loving the taste could foreshadow the fact that chocolate is so bad for you but we all still love to eat it because it tastes so nice, the fact that the woman in the background is working a boring office job gives the idea that a chocolate orange would brighten up her day at work.

11:disneyland

disneyland advertisement

purpose: to advertise disney land and encourage people to go there

audience: young children and families

format/style: the format of this is very basic, disney have many different pictures and colours i picked this one because of the slogan 'where dreams come true' this use of language would be very admirable to a child as they are young and believe that all their dreams can come true, this would encourage parents to go there if there children wanted to go, they also have another slogan 'the happiest place on earth' this again is very advertising to a child, the use of language on both slogans is very positive and fun especially to children.

10:sudocrem

sudocrem advertisement

purpose: to advertise the product, explain what it is used for and persuade people to buy it

audience: mothers and children mainly

format/style: the style of this advertisement is quite simple, the logo of sudocrem is bang in the middle, its the biggest font and brightest colour, the fact that everything in the background is blurred shows the importance of the logo and that it is a big point they are trying to show, the slogan 'for all of lifes little dramas' presents the variety and usefulness of the product, it is trying to say that it can be used for any of lifes problems which would make it a very wanted product by the public because they get the idea that it will solve any problems that can occur

9:nokia

nokia advert

purpose: to advertise the company and persuade people to buy their phones

audience: anyone over the age of 10, general public

format/style: the advert for nokia is very basic, the colours are just blue and white, i think that although it is basic it suits what it is trying to say, the fact that is says 'connecting people' shadows the fact that you are being with someone through the phone, and the white and blue colours they use could be a representation of the sky and clouds and the fact that the phones connect people that are far appart

8:max factor

max factor

purpose: to advertise and persuade people to buy their products

audience: women between 16-50

format/style: the black colours and the white circles of the max foreshadow fame, they give the sense of a fashion show or a big show, the black is qutie a sheek colour and the circles look like lights, specifically the big lights you get at shows or concerts, the fact that it says 'the makeup of makeup artists' is persuasive to anyone buying it because it gives them the idea that famous makeup artists use it and so it must be professional and the fact that they are getting it at high street prices would again be very convincing to buy.

kfc advertisement

purpose: to advertise their food and persuade people to eat there

audience: everyone that likes fast food, primarily families and teens

format/style: the advert is quite basic and only really includes 3 colours,  the man smiling could be a representation of him smiling because the food there is good and worth buying and that he is happy he ate there. the slogan 'its finger lickin good' is quite comical and would be amusing to anyone reading the slogan, it also shows that the food must be so good that even when you have eaten it all you want more and would lick your fingers to try and remember the taste because it was so good, this would encourage people to buy it.

6: world vision

world vision

purpose: to make people aware and encourage them to donate

audience: anyone 18+

format/style: the advert is very blunt and to the point which i thing created a serious mood when you see it which is relevant because the fact it is adertising it serious too, they use numbers presented as a stopwatch which could be seen as a metaphor for the fact that time is counting down for the children in africa. i also think that the fact they highlight the 4 in the fact 'a child dies every four seconds' is used to emphasise the fact that it is such a short amount of time, the crying child they have on the ad too shadows the fact that they have previously shown that it is a very serious and sad, the blankness of the background foreshadows the emptiness that the africans have

5: rimmel london

rimmel  london

purpose: to advertise the product and convince people to buy it

audience: women and girls between 16 and 50

format/style: the brightness of the advert could be trying to look eye catching and fresh, the freshness of the colours they use could be trying to foreshadow the fresh face you will obtain by buying and using their products.
the slogan 'get the london look' is a metaphor for the fact that buying the product will give you the look of london, that it will help you to fit in with everyone in london and you would be a part of the crowd.
the fact that they have the mode and she is flawless is trying to persuade you that you too would be flawless if you bought the product and this specifically would be aimed at teens and younger generation as we are surrounded by flawless people in the media we would do anything to be flawless to and so the fact they advertise the product as possibly making you flawless would make it a very desirable product to buy

4: game of thrones

purpose: to advertise the series and persuade people to watch it

audience: anyone over the age of 16, not for children

format/style: the dark colours that they use on the posters foreshadows the darkness and eery feel that the show contains, the fact that 'you win or you die' is written in red could be used to represent the blood associated with death.
the iron throne in the background looks sharp and jagged which could be foreshadowing the danger in the programme, the shadows from behind the throne could be a way that they are trying to show the shady and dark characters.
i also think that the look on the man in the advertisements face matches the darkness of the poster and i think they have given him that expression as a way of keeping a theme of seriousness.

3: cheerios

cheerios
purpose: to encourage people to buy the cheerios cereal

audience: everyone that eats cereal

format/style: they use lots of different colours and fonts to catch the buyers eye, the shape of the heart containing the cheerios is representing how it is good for your heart, the band they put across the heart says how it can reduce your cholesterol, it looks like its hugging the heart which means it would be good for you and this would be very persuasive in favour of buying it.
they include all the facts in it to show how it is a healthy alternative to other cereals, the big cheerios logo is enlarged to catch the eye.

slim fast advertisement

purpose: to persuade people that taking part in the diet would help them lose weight

smoking kills poster

purpose: to inform people about the danger of smoking and encourage them to stop smoking

audience: people that smoke themselves and people that want friends or family to stop smoking

style: the style/format of the poster it uses dark colours which look daunting and represent death or danger which is what they are trying to present in giving the message that smoking kills, the fact that the finger and cigarette create a gun foreshadows the fact that smoking kills and is dangerous the same as a gun would.
they also use the facts to try and persuade, they have written the number in a bigger font to try and emphasize the number of people that die, it is a short and blunt sentence to get the point across, it is to the point and the two words smoking kills is very direct and obvious.
